Bingo Sports World is Tokyo's Definitive Car Museum

You’ll judge us for saying this, but there are times when we wish we were Jay Leno. Never mind the fact that he screwed over Conan O’Brien and is officially one of the most hated in show business. His garage is every car lover’s fantasy. Whenever we are feeling idle, we dream of some hypothetical lottery win. And when we do so, we think of Leno’s large collection of very pricey automobiles — 169 and counting — which are worth way more than what a bunch of kidneys and livers can fetch.

Get Lucky at Bingo Sports World

The man has great taste. And while winning lotteries can’t buy taste, it can surely afford us something good at Bingo Sports World. Founded by businessman Shinji Takei in 2002, it functions as both his personal garage and car dealership. You’ll find both showrooms based in Tokyo and Nagoya. It’s worth the trek to see it for yourself.

There are about 100 cars in stock, treated and meticulously restored. Takei’s just as obsessed as Leno. He has everything ranging from the modern supercar to rare classics. You’ll see the 1998 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, 2015 Pagani Zonda Kiryu and 1989 Lamborghini Countach, a rear mid-engined V12 that made its debut in the ’70s.

But the thing is, when you’re buying a car from someone as pedantic about cars as Takei, you’re going to need a little more than just money. The cars don’t go to every Tom, Dick or Harry, but people who truly appreciate the car’s value. A good personality goes a long way, too. It’s just like putting a dog up for adoption — young or old, you want it to go to a loving home.

When Takei knows you’re a serious collector, you’ll be allowed to test drive a car. Prices are anywhere from ¥100,000 to a billion yen, but to know how much that Porsche or Lamborghini is for sure, all you have to do is ask. And who knows? You might just get lucky.
