Keyyes Picks: The Most Luxurious Spas in Bangkok
Wellness & Aesthetics October 8th, 2018

Bangkok checks all the right boxes for a quick city getaway. You’ve got your pick of delicious food, trendy neighbourhoods to wander in, and more than enough shopping for the Becky Bloomwoods of the world.

What we love, though, is how the city so easily transforms itself into a cocoon. One where you can slip into and luxuriate in the sensation of your skin being pampered with rich creams, oils, and decadent ingredients. The 24k gold facials at The Penthouse by BFF and thousand-flower body wraps at ELEMIS Spa in the swanky St. Regis make it easy to show yourself some love.

We pick our favourite spas — soon to be launched on the Keyyes Membership app — to luxuriate in.

Oasis Spa

A body polish at the Oasis Spa is always a treat, with scrumptious scrubs made from honey, coffee and creamy yogurt.

There are few ways better to fall into a deep sleep than being wrapped in a warm, comforting embrace. Oasis Spa’s massages offer this comfort through its signature Thai herbal hot compress, made from herbs bought from small villages in Chiang Mai in a move to support local businesses. The best way to experience this heated muscle-soother is with the King of Oasis, a two-hour long massage that combines Thai techniques with aromatherapy. The hot compress helps relieve deep muscles, followed by hot oil deftly kneaded to stretch the muscles and enhance circulation. Don’t leave without trying a body polish, because these are scrumptious — think scrubs made from finely ground Thai coffee, mixed with sweet honey and creamy yogurt that are good enough to eat.

Penthouse Spa by BFF

There's a massage for every need at The Calm Spa.

The Penthouse is home to the most luxurious of treatments, from 24k gold facials to keratin lash lifts.

The Thong Lor neighbourhood is known for its chic watering holes and trendy fashion boutiques, and The Penthouse — located on the highest floor of J Avenue mall — adds to this upscale neighbourhood with its posh treatments. There are 24K gold facials and keratin lash lifts, or high-tech treatments that involve an injection of a restoring cocktail packed with vitamins and hyaluronic acid for thirsty skin.

Ari is the trending area just north of central Bangkok, where hipster cafes and quirky boutiques are mushrooming. It’s also home to the Calm Spa, a reprieve for sluggish afternoons when no amount of coffee can beat a deep, restful sleep. It’s easy to relax in this nature-inspired spa, decorated with leafy plants in square pots, and matching green seats to sink into. There’s a massage for every need — intense muscle repair for the gym rats, and light-pressure treatments for mums-to-be. Calm Spa’s signature treatment is the Office Syndrome therapy, a traditional Thai massage followed by a Himalayan salt compress that ensures all the tension built-up from work will melt away.

OPIUM Spa

Wellness is more than just skin-deep at The Opium Spa. All treatments here are rooted in Ayurveda, a holistic healing approach practised in India for over 3,000 years.

The Samadara ultimate age-defying facial, for instance, combines a skilful face massage with rose quartz crystal to improve blood circulation and help the creams penetrate deeper into the skin. There’s also the Muay Thai Massage, where the therapist uses oil to knead out the blockages and knots on your body using slow, firm strokes and traditional Thai stretching movements.

Panpuri Wellness Spa

It’s easy to lose yourself in the glittering view of Bangkok’s skyline from the floor-to-ceiling windows in Panpuri Wellness Spa. Thankfully, it’s harder to resist the inviting onsen pools and akasuri scrub rooms in this Zen, minimalist space. The full works are a luxury, starting with a soak in the heated waters of the private onsen room. Follow it up with a scrub, where expert hands use a cheesecloth to slough off dead skin cells. A massage and facial follow right after.
