SUVS ARE VERY MUCH IN VOGUE THESE DAYS. Look at new players like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Maserati Levanteand Ferrari GTC4Lusso T. They present the family-friendly utility vehicle with a renewed sense of purpose and a kind of sex appeal it now truly deserves. Sure, it is the perfect combination of luxury and everyday use. But, make it eco-friendly and you’ve got yourself an even greater ride that is guilt-free.

The Fully Electric Audi E-Tron

Case in point, the E-Tron. It is Audi’s first all-electric SUV, part of a move to electrify the Volkswagen Group’s entire line-up by 2030.

It is a boon for the everyday practical driver; spacious enough to chuck a family in and perfectly capable of going the distance. Armed with a 95 kWh battery that’s quick to charge, it operates on about 265 kW of power. It is also estimated to exceed a range of 400 km.

The E-Tron is Audi’s first all-electric SUV to kick-start the Volkswagen Group’s plan to electrify its entire line-up by 2030.

Its 95 kWh battery pack charges to 80 per cent in a brief 30 minutes, but only at designated DC fast-charging stations.

The E-Tron has ample space all around, great for families and we suppose, claustrophobics.
Inside you’ll find climate-controlled leather seats (massage, optional) and Amazon’s Alexa.

Performance is respectable, too. It hits 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and if you activate its temporary speed boost, 5.7 seconds. It drives with only a single pedal, and if you like speed, get it all the way up to 200 km/h.

And what’s a luxury drive without the First World flourishes? The E-Tron comes equipped with a slick interior. Expect a panoramic sunroof, climate-controlled seating, inductive wireless smartphone charging and optional add-ons like massage seats. It will also be Audi’s first time integrating Amazon’s Alexa, a voice assistant that’s capable of music streaming, ordering your food and answering whatever ridiculous trivia you might throw her.

The Audi E-Tron will arrive in Singapore in 2019. Price to be confirmed
