ARE YOU JUGGLING a couple of young ones, and not mentally ready to be seen in a — mother of horrors — sedan? Are you putting the kids to bed early, but staying up to watch re-runs of Furious 7 aka “the best one”?
As the spouse nurses the baby, are you playing GT Sport on the PS4? Do you pine for more power as you send your squabbling children to the soccer game, so that they’ll exit the vehicle as soon as possible?
You don’t know it yet, but you need to get on another level of driving. Mercedes-Benz has added another glowing, pink-cheeked member to the AMG GT family – the 4-Door Coupé. Motorheads online are already calling it the “most powerful production Mercedes ever built”.
In case you’re wondering, this model is not a simple stretching out of the AMG GT. Mercedes-Benz insists that this ride offers the combined “versatility of a 4-door coupé and a Grand Turismo”, pairing track-worthy performance with everyday comfort.
The boost from the pick-up alone is going to throw your head back. Aesthetically, it’s like the AMG went on a bulking phase, and the roar under the hood sounds a lot like the 630 ponies it promises.
The coupé moves with a voluminous body drawn with sensual proportions, and the profile is sleek, with a sexy, muted aggression. Purists will no doubt complain that there is no such thing as a 4-door coupé. Which is absolutely fine because they might not understand the semantics in modern marketing. Where is the fun if you cannot bend the rules on your own intellectual property?
The Mercedes AMG GT 63S 4-Door has a top speed of 315km/h, with 4-wheel steering and an all-wheel drive system. Translation: It’s a sexy beast people will admire at the lights, but have serious trouble catching up with.
